IWCE’s College of Technology workshops bolster attendees’ educational foundation
IWCE’s College of Technology workshops provide both introductory courses and technical workshops for any skill level or background. Whether you need fundamentals, in-depth training or want to brush up on what's new, these half-day and full-day workshops provide a strong foundation for your communications-technology knowledge. IWCE 2015 takes place March 16-20 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The College of Technology is held Monday, Tuesday and—for the first time—on Friday. IWCE’s exhibit hall is open Wednesday and Thursday. Include the workshops to create an entire week of learning!
On Monday, March 16, there will be two full-day workshops: Hands-On IP for Radio Technicians, for radio technicians with only beginning networking experience; and Project Management Fundamentals, where you examine how project management principles may be applied to the integration of IT and communications technology.
Monday's half-day workshops include Radio 101 for IT Managers, where IT managers can learn the basics of RF technology; and New Technology Review for the RF Professional, which provides an overview of up and coming technologies. Other options include overviews of P25; HetNets and Small Cells; 4G, LTE and Broadband, in-building wireless; and Cloud. Also, learn more about System Planning and Procurement Basics; Next-Generation Command and Surveillance Centers, and Developing Apps for the Enterprise and Critical Communications.
On Tuesday, March 17, the full-day workshops are: Wireless Positioning and Location Technologies, brought to you by the IEEE Communications Society; and Introduction to Cybersecurity, which will be presented by Capitol Technology University.
Half-day workshops on Tuesday include topics on tower infrastructure and tower safety, a discussion of P25 from the user’s perspective, challenges for critical infrastructure such as utilities and transportation, how to create a radio network for planned events like the Olympics and Super Bowl, and a workshop designed for COMM Unit Leaders. Additional workshops include discussions on backhaul, DMR, spectrum and licensing and LMR/LTE as a multi-network architecture.
A new feature for IWCE 2015 is that additional workshops will be held on Friday morning from 8:30 am – 12:00 pm. Stay the extra day to learn about Next-Generation Antennas: From DAS to LTE; What You Need to Know About the Internet of Things, 800 MHz Post Rebanding Interference Workshop and the Future of Video Communications
