1. “Motorola Solutions exploring sale of company, reports say” – Critical-communications giant Motorola Solutions is on the selling block, according to numerous media reports. Motorola Solutions officials declined to comment on the speculation.
2. “Motorola Solutions buys 911 call-taking software firm Emergency CallWorks” –Less than a week after report surfaced that Motorola Solutions officials were exploring a sale of the company (see above), Motorola Solution announced the acquisition of Emergency CallWorks, the developer of a next-generation 911 multimedia call-taking platform.
3. “Pacific DataVision announces MOTOTRBO as narrowband technology, begins trading on NASDAQ” – Pacific DataVision (PDV) Vice Chairman Morgan O’Brien confirmed several months of speculation that the company will use MOTOTRBO from Motorola Solutions in the narrowband version of its enhanced-dispatch offering. PDV plans to be operational in four markets by mid-year while continuing to ask the FCC for permission to deploy a broadband offering in the 900 MHz band.

5. “TriTech Software Systems buys Tiburon” – San Diego-based TriTech Software Systems announced the acquisition of Tiburon. The deal expands TriTech’s customer base by more than 350 sites, which means that TriTech supports dispatch installations—primarily 911 centers—in 82 of the 100 largest municipalities in the United States, according to a company press release.
