FirstNet Leaders to provide an update on the project at Forum

Atlanta, October 25, 2016 – Penton’s IWCE's Critical LTE Communications Forum, a new business technology conference focused on mission-critical LTE network solutions, today announced that First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) leadership will present the Opening Remarks on Wednesday, November 2 at 9:05 a.m. The Forum is scheduled for November 2-3, 2016 at the McCormick Place in Chicago in tandem with Penton’s IoT Emerge.

When it comes to public safety, Americans expect results from first responders. The FirstNet network will carry high-speed data, location information, images, and eventually streaming video. FirstNet will ensure interoperability among first responders and will take advantage of existing telecommunication assets, vendor competition and economies of scale to drive down costs to offer a dedicated public safety service. During the presentation FirstNet leaders are expected to provide an update on the project.

“FirstNet fulfills a promise made to first responders after 9/11 – that they would have the technology they need to stay safe and do their jobs. Morgan O’Brien, former Nextel Communications co-founder, proposed this idea for a nationwide public safety broadband network when he was at International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) in 2006,” said Stephanie McCall, Show Director, IWCE’s Critical LTE Communications Forum. “We are excited that FirstNet will be joining us in Chicago.”

IWCE's Critical LTE Communications Forum is targeted to solutions vendors and carriers as well as enterprise, utilities and other critical infrastructure, government and public safety professionals. The conference will examine the network solutions, applications and opportunities for enterprises and governments to transition to secure, reliable networks for voice and data within an LTE framework.

The Forum will offer keynotes, speakers and case studies from early pilot programs of public safety agencies implementing broadband wireless networks and services. Topics to be covered include: case studies from major cities including Chicago’s LTE project, transitioning from LMR to LTE, voice over LTE, software solutions and video and other emerging applications.
