M/A-COM announced it has been awarded a $4.5 million contract by the Washington State Patrol to provide in-band, dual-receive M7100IP mobile radios and P7100IP portable radios, both of which are capable of connecting to an Internet Protocol network. The plan is for troopers to eventually use the radios to achieve interoperable communications over disparate radio systems via M/A-COM’s IP-based NetworkFirst solution, according to a company spokesman. “Plans are in process to incorporate NetworkFirst down the road, but there’s no timeframe right now,” said spokesman Dave Hutcheson.
