FCC postpones auction for paging frequencies
On May 25, the FCC announced that it is postponing the start of the upcoming auction of lower and upper paging bands. The auction had been scheduled to begin on June 26, and it has been postponed until Oct. 30. A statement from the commission cited the need for additional testing on newly developed Web-based software.
As a result of the postponement, dates and deadlines associated with the auction have been rescheduled as follows:
Short-Form Application (FCC Form 175) Deadline: Sept. 17
Upfront Payments Deadline: Oct. 5
Auction Start Date: Oct. 30
The original short-form application (FCC Form 175) filing window for Auction No. 40 closed on May 14 at 6 p.m. ET. Applications submitted during the original window will be deemed ineffective and purged from the FCC’s computer system. Any party will be permitted to submit an application for Auction No. 40 in accordance with the new deadline.
