Making data operational in real time, in 2014 and beyond
By integrating multiple streams of data into one unified view, you can support first responders in the field as an incident develops. Both the technology and applications are giving that officer timely access to information from myriad sources to help the responder confront the situation and solve the crime quickly. Real-time crime centers provide actionable information at the right time to help solve crimes and keep officers and citizens safer.
In 2014, more government leaders will develop strategies to quantify, capture, and find ways to use their data operationally, and make some sense of the chaos that agencies are feeling with the escalation of data capture. Agencies will add real-time data flows, aggregate public/private sector video, access social media, and deliver the correlated/linked data to command centers and control rooms to improve incident-management performance.
Threats are changing, and citizens have increasing expectations of the agencies that serve them. The ability to capture, correlate, analyze and share data through solutions such as Motorola Solutions’ Real-Time Crime Center will be more important than ever. Real-Time Crime Centers aggregate technology to enable an analyst or even a badged officer to access all available information and use it to help officers in the field resolve situations faster.
With more information available to law enforcement, who will implement a Real-Time Crime Center solution this year to take advantage of that data and share it in the field? The pressure to start now comes from the widening gap between the amount of information available and the information that law enforcement can use. And the upside of embracing the technology is in how it can help improve officer and citizen safety while reducing crime and reducing the use of resources.
