Despite this sentiment, Deacon said it is “very disappointing” to see the two companies’ joint development project result in litigation over “a regular commercial dispute” that the companies should have been able to resolve privately.
“We have a business to run at the end of the day, and Datron are trying to basically achieve what they’re trying to achieve,” Deacon said. “They’re effectively trying to hurt us at the moment. It’s a shame that they are using this as a mechanism to try to do so.”
Meanwhile, Datron will continue to offer products outside of the P25 arena, according to the company.
“Datron remains focused on its successful tactical radio and strategic HF products, as well as its ongoing market initiatives in Unmanned Aerial Systems and new wideband data products” Datron President and CEO Kevin Kane said in a prepared statement. “We will continue to evaluate new technologies relevant to public-safety users and our military customer base.”
