EWA enhances CEVO software to let operators select frequencies
CEVO allows both users and EWA staff to track the status of the licensing applications. In fact, CEVO will notice if a user has a prolonged delay in answering a question; in such cases, CEVO will offer the user help from an EWA staffer, Crosby said.
“Guess what that does for productivity and speed of service?” he said. “It’s going to be incredible.”
In 1980, EWA was the first to automate frequency coordination, Crosby said. Although enhancements were made to the system, the core programming for the spectrum-management software remained in place until EWA had the code rewritten for the CEVO project. EWA’s 1980 investment in automation “absolutely vaulted us into a leadership position” in the frequency-coordination sector, and Crosby said he hopes the investment in CEVO will yield similar results.
CEVO received positive reviews during initial demonstrations conducted at the EWA Wireless Summit yesterday, and Crosby said he is looking forward to getting more input from conference attendees the rest of the week about the enhanced spectrum-management platform.
“To me, it will be tremendously productive and efficient, whether you’re an EWA staffer, a customer or a prospective licensee. Everybody will have the same amount of information, and it will be great.
“It should absolutely change the way we do business for the next 35 years,” Crosby said. “It’s a platform that I think we can add to—more bands, more responsibilities and more analysis—and we’re ready to start putting out new models. I’m excited about this, and I can’t wait to see people’s impressions.”
