Impact Power Technologies announces new batteries, Boston PD contract
Increased power capacity is the primary benefit of the IPT 9858-LiP 42, which is designed to provide 4,200 milliamps of power and should be available during the first quarter of 2016, Quinter said.
Impact Power Technologies’ administrators continue to challenge the company’s engineering staff to find new methods to improve power capacity and extend battery life, Murphy said.
“We learn every day,” he said. “Right now, our battery-management system for all of our products is second to none. So, not only do we have a really cool chemistry, we’re able to optimize that chemistry to get extended run times.”
Both of the new replacement batteries will be displayed in the Impact Power Technologies booth, #4943 in the IACP exhibit hall.
Murphy said the IPT 9858-LiP 42 is an enhanced version of the replacement batteries being purchased by the Boston Police Department, which recently received 600 of the batteries and plans to make another similar-sized order by the end of the year.
“We’ve had product in Boston now for a pretty good amount of time, with different units—the gang unit, the drug unit—and we had product out there for the Marathon bombing, when they were trying to catch the guys,” Murphy said. “But now the complete force has purchased batteries from us, so we’re in the mainstream.”
