Motorola Solutions offers agencies entry-level package for real-time crime centers
A Starter Kit lets a public-safety agency realize the basic functionality of a real-time crime center while providing a “stepping stone” to a more robust real-time crime center, when it fits into the jurisdiction’s plans—a process that can be driven by operational issues, as well as funding resources, Kedzierski said.
“You have the largest cities that have started real-time crime centers that have created a set of methods and procedures to integrate those into their functions, but as you get down into medium and smaller metros, a lot of agencies are asking those questions of how you’re going to staff them up,” he said. “So, we’re trying to provide an answer, in terms of saying, ‘Here is a basic set of technology tools that you can invest in to have the capabilities of a real-time crime center, so that you can start small.’
“Maybe it’s staffed for special events, or maybe it’s staffed during the busiest hours. Each agency will have a different approach, but we at least want to make the question on the technology easier.”
