The award was initiated to commemorate Maxrad’s 20th anniversary of its establishment by George M. Hanus in 1978. Brown has been involved in the electronics industry since 1954. His company was the second authorized Maxrad sales representative hired by Hanus.

Changes at the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (WTB) of the FCC, Washington, DC: Kathleen O’Brien, chief of the Auctions and Industry Analysis Division, becomes acting deputy chief of the bureau’s front office. Josh Roland, attorney-advisor in the Wireless Bureau’s Actions and Industry Analysis Divison, moves up to legal advisor for the bureau’s front office. Steven Weingarten, legal advisor to the WTB chief, is named chief of the Commercial Wireless Division. Amy Zoslov, deputy chief of the Auctions and Industry Analysis Division, advances to acting chief of the same division. David Furth, chief of the Commercial Wireless Division, becomes co-chair of the Universal Licensing System.
