Earpiece has automatic squelch

Motorola’s completely discreet earpiece is designed for use with Motorola two-way radios and surveillance kits by police officers, public safety officials and security operatives. Users can transmit communications through the wireless earpiece via an inductive neckloop connected to a Motorola two- or three-wire surveillance kit. Its small size is designed to enable the user to monitor radio transmissions without compromising undercover integrity. The earpiece offers a range of audio functions including automatic squelch, automatic gain control and noise filtering. Average battery life is 100 hours, and the earpiece includes an end-of-life circuit that generates a warning signal when the battery needs changing.

Radio modem offers error correction

The RF9600 from RF Neulink is a radio modem that operates on the new unlicensed MURS frequencies. The modem is capable of 9600 baud, has error correction, robust reliability and comes pre-programmed with all five frequencies. Each station can have its own ID code to ensure that it responds to commands. Units will work with many commercial weather stations.

Model 350-BD-FFE-2 from Bird Component Products is a weather-tight, two-way divider and combiner. The unit offers a frequency range of 460MHz-960MHz, 350W power rating into matched loads and 150W into mismatch conditions. It also offers VSWR input 1.3:1 maximum and output 1.2:1 maximum. Model 555 is a digital delay/pulse generator from Berkeley Nucleonics that offers multichannel 1ns-resolution timing, delaying, gating, pulsing and syncing functions. The N3419A from Agilent Technologies is a vehicle-mounted display system that allows for real-time troubleshooting while using the company’s wireless network optimization tools. It consists of a bright display, rugged and adjustable pedestal mounting, and a custom keypad. The system enables wireless network technicians and optimization engineers to easily navigate drive-test software. The keypad enables users to perform essential functions, such as starting and stopping calls, switching between measurement windows and recording measurements with one keystroke.

Battery monitor uses single-cell voltage

The Intelligent Monitoring System from GNB Industrial Power is a stand-alone system that continuously assesses a battery’s ability to provide power to critical applications. The IMS actively notifies the user when the battery requires service or replacement, and it predicts the remaining standby time of a battery during a discharge. As a result, it allows the user to intelligently dispatch field generators and shed unnecessary battery loads to critical sites before power is lost. The system uses single-cell voltage and impedance testing in conjunction with string current analysis to quickly pinpoint a problem.

Laptop reduces heat absorption by 30%

The White Rocky from Amrel is a special version of the Rocky II+ laptop developed for the public safety sector. The computer is encapsulated with a white coating that reduces heat absorption from direct sunlight by as much as 30%. It has been certified to MIL-STD 810E, MIL-STD 461D and IP54 for ruggedization, and it is equipped with a Pentium III 500MHz CPU. Microwave cables offer 50V impedance

The Utiform family of tin-dipped microwave cables from Micro-Coax has a higher temperature rating than semi-rigid cables and an equivalent bend radius. The cables are 100% shielded and offer impedance of 50V over a wide dc — 95GHz frequency range. Capacitance is either 27pf/ft. or 29pf/ft., depending on the cable. Adapter kit turns portables into mobiles

The vehicular adapter kit from Motorola turns the company’s portable HT750 and HT1250 two-way radios into mobile units when the user is traveling between job sites or in a public safety or security situation where the user is moving throughout the coverage area. A hand-held microphone is provided along with a battery spacer, an RF switch adapter and an installation kit. The adapter also has the added audio power needed for an external speaker. The unit maintains the portable radios’ original transmission and reception characteristics.
