The state of South Dakota has awarded EFJohnson, a subsidiary of Transcrypt International, an order for 2,000 of its Smartzone radios. South Dakota is installing a statewide VHF Smartzone communications systems and has chosen EFJohnson to supply its model 5300 mobile radio products to operate on the system. The contract is valued at $3.7 million.
“This order marks EFJohnson’s second entry into large state systems,” said David Hattey, president of EFJohnson. “Starting in 2000 and continuing this year, we have supplied numerous radios to the Utah Communications Agency Network, which demonstrates our ability to meet our customers’ expectations of operational compatibility.”
