Vertex Standard announces radio donation program for NY workers
A month after the Sept. 11 attacks against the United States, Vertex Standard announced “Radios to the Rescue,” a radio donation program designed to get portable radios into the hands of the rescue workers in New York.
“Vertex Standard wants to make a contribution that makes a difference and allow our reps and dealers to participate at the same time,” said Scott Henderson, vice president of the Land Mobile Radio Division.
Vertex Standard will be donating VX-400 portable radios and NC-76B chargers to the rescue efforts underway in New York as an expression of support, according to a press release. These donated radios will be sent to the following agencies and organizations: the American Red Cross (Upper New York State Chapter) and the New York State Urban/Technical Search and Rescue. The effort will be coordinated at the U.S. headquarters of Vertex Standard in Cerritos, CA.
“When our dealers place an order, we will place their name on our donor’s listing. It is a simple way of making a difference in this critical effort while still allowing them to do what they do every day, selling radio equipment to organizations of all types in both the public and private sectors,” Henderson said.
“The donated VX-400 portables can easily be programmed for the particular rescue operation to which they will be sent. Plus these portables are high-powered, offering up to 5W and are especially rugged, meeting Mil-Std 810C, D and E approvals,” said Stan Scott, national sales manager for the Land Mobile Radio Division.
