Today’s issue of the Federal Register includes the FCC’s Notice of Proposed Rulemaking that is intended to improve public safety communications in the 800MHz band. The NPRM is widely known as a proposal to mitigate interference from cellular architecture digital commercial mobile radio service systems, notably from cell sites operated by Nextel Communications, Reston, VA.
The publication of the NPRM begins the cycle for comments from the public and for replies to those comments. The deadline for comments to be submitted to the FCC for formal consideration is May 6; the deadline for reply comments is June 4.
