NENA picks veteran association exec to fill top staff post
The National Emergency Number Association, Columbus, Ohio, has chosen the chief administrative officer of the Information Technology Association of America to be NENA’s new executive director.
In Terry Peters, NENA taps an American Society of Association Executives “certified association executive” with nearly 20 years of professional and trade association management experience. At NENA, Peters takes the helm of a membership organization dedicated to the technological advancement, availability and implementation of a universal emergency telephone number system (9-1-1). Founded in 1982, NENA has 7,000 members.
“I look forward to this opportunity to work with NENA and the professionals providing this vital public service,” Peters said.
NENA’s executive board described its recruitment process as “rigorous” and praised the organization’s wireless implementation director, Jim Goerke, who served as interim executive director for eight months.
“He has guided NENA into new levels,” a statement from the board reads.
