With more than 160 vehicles operating on the system network, the Jefferson, Ala., Sheriff’s Department has given Dataradio’s installation its “Final Systems Acceptance.”
The mobile data system provides officers of the department access to federal, state and local criminal information databases as well as providing real-time messaging, silent dispatching and incident reporting capabilities.
The 800 MHz system enables information traffic, and each vehicle is equipped with Gemini mobile radio modems operating at 25.6 Kbps. The Gemini radio features Dataradio’s Parallel Decode technology, along with DSP-based modems that, according to the Dataradio Corp., produce fewer retries and more effective throughput than other systems available.
