Nokia officials announced sagging profits and sales but softened the bad news with word that its main handset unit would continue to offset losses at its networks unit.
Company officials said sales at its key cell phones unit, which generates80 percent of sales, would grow between 4 percent and 12 percent in the second quarter, up from 1 percent growth in the first.
Nokia officials said January-March pre-tax profit fell 4 percent to $1.38 billion.
