Texas town implements wireless mesh network
Farmers Branch, Texas, selected Cisco Systems’ outdoor wireless mesh product for citywide Wi-Fi access. The system, hosted and managed by Internet service provider MobilePro, will let the city provide Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g connectivity to academic, consumer and government users. Public-safety and public-works employees will also use the network for meter reading, police communications and tracking city vehicles, according to Cisco.
Wireless heart monitor uses Bluetooth technology
Telzuit has successfully tested a 12-lead, wireless heart monitor prototype using Bluetooth technology from Cambridge Silicon Radio. According to Telzuit, the Bluetooth component is the final step before it brings to market the product, as well as its other wireless medical devices, including a cardiac-event monitor and a long-term-care patient solution.
