Richmond, Va., chooses Intergraph’s computer-aided dispatch system
The City of Richmond, Va., chose Intergraph’s computer-aided dispatch system for its police, fire and emergency medical services departments. The system provides the departments with integrated-mapping and mobile-data components, which let field officers connect to the departments’ databases remotely.
Midland sponsors presidential golf outing
Midland Radio announced its sponsorship of the Presidential Golf Tournament Foundation, which will raise funds in support of Positive Changes, a not-for-profit charity founded in 2005 to assist families and individuals facing lifetime of disability.
In-building wireless antenna promises 3.6 dBi gain
Laird Technologies introduced the UltraSphere CAF 94895, a micro-miniature, low-profile, in-building wireless antenna that provides as much as 3.6 dBi gain and operates over the wideband frequency range of 800 MHz to 2.4 GHz. This enables six different technologies to radiate through a single antenna device, according to the company.
Caregivers can now use wireless phones in forbidden areas
SBC Communications, San Antonio, is offering local area hospitals a wireless local area network for wireless voice and data communications. The service includes WLAN equipment from Cisco and wireless telephones from SpectraLink. The system uses 802.11b wireless networking standards and let caregivers use wireless phones in hospital areas where it once wasn’t allowed due to interference with medical monitors and equipment.
