Monaco to install TETRA network
Motorola has been selected by the Principality of Monaco to deliver a nationwide terrestrial trunked radio, or TETRA, communications network. The company will deploy a full Dimetra IP network, 1500 TETRA terminals and command-and-control stations across the country.
In other news, the city of Macon, Ga., has installed Motorola’s MOTOMESH product for wireless broadband access throughout the municipality. The mesh network will provide wireless access using the 2.4 GHz frequency band for residents and municipal workers and wireless data communications for first responders over the 4.9 GHz public-safety frequencies.
Motorola also won a contract to supply a TETRA system to Leipzig/Halle Airport in Taunusstein, Germany. The contract also includes a range of Motorola TETRA terminals for mobile voice and data communications to support airport operations such as fleet, freight and logistics management. The network is scheduled for completion by the end of July, according to the company.
