EADS radio network gains system acceptance from Mounties
EADS Defense & Security announced system acceptance of its CORP25 digital, trunked land-mobile radio system by the “O” Division of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, validating that the delivered Project 25–based public-safety radio network fulfills the operational requirements of the RCMP.
In January of this year, EADS Defense & Security announced that it had been awarded the contract for deployment of its CORP25 digital radio communications network to service the RCMP “O” Division’s critical communications requirements in the province of Ontario, Canada. The contract called for the implementation of a state-of-the-art, open-standard P25 IP-based digital public safety radio communication network along with command and control centers to be expanded across Ontario as the new Central Region Operation Communication System.
The first phase rollout of the P25 digital communication network will serve as the primary means of providing secure wireless communication across a 360-km corridor in Ontario. The second and larger phase will extend the network to cover the entire province and replace the existing Central Region Operation Communication System.
