LTE was designed initially for data, but voice over (VoLTE) is in the marketplace and gaining traction. LTE brings services like high-definition voice, video chat and other rich communications services (RCS) to users. So as carriers begin to retire their 2G networks, are these features compelling enough for enterprise users to move to LTE?
Meanwhile, 3GPP, the standards bodies for LTE technology, is in the process of developing a standard for mission-critical voice that is designed to provide the kind of dependability and reliability that public-safety agencies and critical-infrastructure entities have enjoyed only on private LMR networks
Topics covered include:
•Examine the advantages of LTE as a voice network
•Get insights and a status update on the VoLTE migration
•Examine the development of the mission-critical-voice standard
•Discuss the potential timing of the VoLTE completion and when it could be a viable choice in the market.
